The Three Amigo’s Come To Town!

Well, they’re three of the greatest DJs currently working the dance club scene but whether they’re actually pals or not is another question! Nevertheless, they are all here in Chicago this weekend showing once again that our great city draws not only best in clubland sounds, but also every week! Yet again, so many choices, so many fabulous dance experiences to be had. Enjoy….!

Little Louie Vega (one half of the duo Masters at Work) is at Hearts tonight showing us all why he was selected to perform at the Super Bowl and took home a Grammy. Famous for collaborating on the huge dance hit “Ride On The Rhythm” with Marc Antony, Vega is one of the biggest names on the house scene. DJ-ing since he was 18, Vega began at high school, started cutting his teeth more fully with block parties in his native Bronx neighborhood, and is now one of the world’s most traveled jocks. Since the mid-90s Vega has been part of Masters at Work and responsible for numerous re-mix classics with partner Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez. Vega comes from a highly musical family with a sax-playing father (Luis Vager) and Latin-singing uncle (Hector Lavoe of the Fania All-Stars), which explains Little Louie’s extensive range of influences. He headlines tonight with hearts residents Hiroki, Just Joey and John Curley for company. From 10pm, $10, free before midnight, North Branch Street.

Italians Do It Better. That’s not only the name of the New Jersey record label, but best describes the space-disco that only Italian DJs seem capable of producing. Venitian exponent of the genre Bottin is no exception and he is at Smart Bar tonight to showcase his particular talents. Raised on old Italian Giallo soundtracks, Bottin adds late 70s Italian disco with tinges of west-coast vibe, bit of deep funk, Italian rarities and dollops of kitsch for a sound that is unique but hard oh so hard to resist! Bottin began his career as a sound designer and worked for Benetton, Colors Magazine, and designed audio at the Biennale of Venice. Bottin is joined by Brooklyn’s Jacques Renault (one half of Runaway) who will be complimenting the disco theme with a mix bag of sugar and deep house. Chicago’s own Only Children open. From 10pm, $13, north Clark Street.

It’s gonna be packed-to-the-rafters-so-get-there-early night at The Mid when Dutch superstar DJ Chuckie comes striding into the booth. The man who regularly wows crowds of 40,000 in his homeland has an ambition, enthusiasm, and passion for music few can rival. Described in 2008 by Ibiza guru David Guetta as the man who has “been mixing the hip-hop vibe with house music like no one else!” Chuckie has continued to conquer venues in England, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, France, The Canary Islands, Curacao, Morocco, Turkey, Suriname, Portugal and Spain. Chuckie (real name Clyde Narain) has already won numerous awards and has even been heavily involved in charitable works as a UNICEF “ambassador” and produced a single for the Red Cross inspired by quotes from world leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama. How’s that for soul? Joining him tonight is Mid resident Nathan Scott, with DJ Gus Karas in the newly opened VIP room. From 10pm, $20, in advance $10 from clubtix.net. http://www.myspace.com/djchuckie/music
