Techno! It Gets No Better Than This…

Techno comes no better than this – two of the scene’s current dynamo’s are Troy Pierce and Adultnapper and both are in town tonight to showcase their massively “minimal” talents.

Raised just a four-hour drive from Chicago, Muncie-born Troy was busy studying photography in New York in 1994 when he purchased his first set of decks and first started experimenting with the DJ art. Fortunate to have a flatmate who was manager of Temple Records, Troy was thus able to get his hands on an endless supply of stellar sounds with which to craft his niche. Having grown up to the sounds of Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin at various detroit parties in 1990s, it is perhaps no surprise that Troy also segued into techno to fashion his own distinct brand of minimalism. But he didn’t do this in New York. Instead, finding the city lacking in expressive opportunities, Troy headed out to Berlin in the early noughties where the scene was burgeoning and bright…and has not stopped since…http://www.myspace.com/troypierceminus

Joining Troy in the Spy Bar is Francis Harris aka Adultnapper. Described as a “shadowy figure” drawn from the dark recesses of Harris’s mind, Adultnapper has gone against the grain of skippy rhythms and repetitive looped constructs and adopted a more song-based approach whilst exploring a new “sonic territory.” A former philosophy student, Adultnapper creates haunting tonal melodies with thick musical baselines embedded in complex arrangements and brooding introspective atmospheres that steadfastly challenges the norms of post modern electro. Adultnapper who is once said to have declared that he “hated dance music” (probably during his punk rock days) has ironically established himself as one of the truly great modern exponents of the electro/techno genre with a massive global audience and ever-evolving sound. http://www.myspace.com/adultnapper

It’s $20 to witness the genius of these two great producers, $10 in advance from clubtix.net. It all starts from 10pm, when local hero Jason Patrick gets the groove started from the north Franklin Street booth.
