| About John Barleycorn : There is no other place in Clark Street were you can enjoy an inexpensive bar menu and drinks as low as two dollars while watching the latest in sports. John Barleycorn, is sure to intoxicate you sports bar cravings, with its two story restaurant in a historic building constructed as early as 1890. John Barleycorn boasts of its historic brew roots, an old underground saloon in 1920 and popular hang out for Wrigleyville yuppies and grown up frat boys at present. The bar features a wooden bar, large plasma TVs, video screens and an extensive microbrew selection counting 16 kinds available on tap. The crowd gathers on the dance floor at the cavernous second floor space during weekends and Thursdays. This bar is a clone of the Lincoln Park yuppie hotspot, John Barleycorn Sr., with Wrigleyville bonuses such as altered hours during Cub seasons and the upstairs dance floor. But like its old historic roots, John Barleycorn remains to be a popular yet subtle neighborhood rendezvous. Source: Chicago Nightlife Guide |
