6All-nighters and night-frighters, it’s all going down at a Chi club this weekend, with a surprise or two thrown in for good measure. Wherever you choose to go, you’ll find yourself in groover’s paradise…guaranteed!

Friday, May 13th

Kinetic Playground, west Lawrence Avenue: A Friday the 13th special Chicago-style for all fans of wake the dead fright night sets, it gets no better than this with the blood-gurgling Deathface featuring long-standing DJ Johnny Love and vocalist Adri Law (lovely people really, so we’re told). It’s all you’d expect, with plenty of screeching electro effects and moody ghoul basslines. They are joined by Oblivion (from Minneapolis), Bandiit (taking a break from Wolf Pack duty) and Furthersound DJ’s Jeekoos. Subnoxious and Brandon S provide the entrails on entry. Vision, north Dearborn Street: ‘Migrashun: Two Year Anniversary’ is the reason to venture out to Vision tonight to celebrate one of Chi’s leading purveyors of deep house, techno and minimalism. Heading the bill is the outstanding Pawel of Berlin, the co-owner of Dial Records that has brought us the classic sounds of Efdemin and Pantha Du Prince for example. Laying down the mood for Pawel is Chi’s own minimalist beauty Kate Simko, with opening sets from Funk Shui, Jason Warth and Migrashun founding father Mathias Matthew. From 10pm, $15, before midnight $12.

The Mid, north Halstead Avenue: Fans of the anthemic 2009 clubland classic “I’ll Get You” will be in for an amazing time at The Mid for the creators of that cut Classixx are here for the night with their house-remixes, Balearic and Indie-style that are so adored and savored. The L.A. duo are joined by the electro-disco-house of Treasure Fingers (from France). From 10pm, $15, discounts before midnight via RSVP at clubtix.com.

Saturday, May 14th

Abbey Pub, west Grace Street: It’s a right regal line-up to help celebrate Ninja Tune’s 20th year of left-field visionary beats with the assault of Kid Koala headlining in the wake of rock-hybrid acts Cave, Loyal Divide, and Save The Clocktower. Setting the scene early on is DJ’s Intel and Demchuk with their downtempo instrumental grooves. From 8pm, $20, in advance $18.

Here’s another one for all those that like a surprise!…as we don’t know where this gig is being held yet…but wherever it is, it’ll be well worth trekking along to! Labeled ‘Deep In Space’, this all-night sess features such Chi luminaries as Just Joey, Boogie Libre and David Sabat for the early groove-setting, until the heavyweights Mark Grant and Roy Davis Jr. show us what they’re made of.
