The Mid, north Halsted Avenue: The Awesome and Legendary Godfather of Hip-Hop Afrika Bambaataa takes center stage at The Mid this week for a truly pumping night of new and classic hip-hop heaven. Leader of the Universal Zulu Nation, Bambaataa (who more or less coined the term hip-hop when the genre first took root on the club scene) is world-renowned for bringing together DJ’s, breakdancers, MC’s and graffiti artists back in the mid-80s when the early hip-hop parties began to swing. He’s joined tonight by some of Chi’s most prominent hip-hop droppers Intel, Maker, Trew and Shred One. If ever there was a party you really do not want to miss this is the one! House of Blues, north Dearborn Street: This rocking venue welcomes a great New York-spawned feast of hipster dance action with this Girls & Boys night featuring the one and only Felix Da Housecat and multiple star guests! We must tip our forelocks to our very own party-making crew Midnight Conspiracy for bringing us this true delight…which is now going to be going down once a month in Chi town from now on! Whooah, yeah! On the scene tonight with Felix is the incredible Dim Mak electro trio Peace Treaty and Alex English of the Girls & Boys set-up. Not only that we have our own Chi stars Orville Klein, Jai Sephora and Compact Disco…while over in the VIP Room there’s Dark Wave Disco, Moneypenny, Perfect Kiss, Theo G, Action/Adventure and Shakespeare’s Dead. The madness is billed as having stylized VIP areas, Opera Boxes and a Private Function Room and you are promised a fashionable club crowd with riotous party-goers in the pit with lots of fist pumping and crowd surfing to go around!
