Swedes, Finns, Germans, Romanians…Chicago’s clubs get all Euro cosmo this weekend when some of the best names in dance music bring their burgeoning DJ talents to the windy city and blow us all away…

Thursday, November 11th

Spy Bar welcomes German hotshots Tiefschwarz tonight from 10pm. Brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz, and producer Peter Hoff have been getting clubbers jumping all over the world (Germany, Switzerland, Ibiza, Miami, New York, Melbourne, Sydney, Amsterdam, Sarajevo, London, Stockholm) for the last ten years with their deep house, and grinding electro, and are now regarded as one of the biggest DJ outfits around. On their musical journey Tiefschwarz (which means “deep black” in German) have remixed Madonna, Miss Elliott, and Depeche Mode, and currently have a new CD ‘Chocolate’ (featuring guest vocalists such as Daniel Wilde) which they have been promoting on tour this year. Spy Bar host Dino G provides the opening salvo in north Franklin Street. $20, in advance $10 through clubtix.net.

Another European manning the decks in the city tonight is Huoratron, a raw and meaty export from Finland who brings his tough ‘8-bit’ electro to Evil Olive. It’s heavy, trancelike, boomy, gritty and sure to please all those who enjoy getting a groove on to Playstation-like noises, and soundtracks. It’s a feast of dazzling soundscapes. The night’s called ‘Let’s Get Weird’ and you won’t have any problem doing that with Huoratron. $5, from 10pm. West Division Street.

Staying with the cosmopolitan feel, Smart Bar welcomes Germany’s nudisco king Tensnake, along with New York’s OCD Automatic, and local Chicago rep DJ Prepstep. Tensnake has carved a nice little niche groove for himself with his electro-boogie-disco that cuts both smooth, and chunky, for a sound that is hard to stop your hips from shaking to, and feet from tapping at. Infectious, just like a snakebite. $12, or $10 before midnight, north Clark Street.

At Vision tonight it’s a case of déjà vu as they present Flashback Fridays, and devote one night a month to the old guys who started it all in the 80s and 90s that put Chicago House on the world map of clubland beats. Tonight it’s the dream team of Hot Mix 5s Kenny “Jammin” Jason, Julian “Jumping” Perez, Maurice “Ice” Culpepper, and Joe “Cool” Rodriguez. So if you weren’t around at the time, but would love to hear what got heads spinning, and bodies gyrating back then, this is the place to be for some quality sounds from the DJs who got it all going. $10, from 10pm, north Dearborn Street. http://kennyjason.com/

Everyone loves a new hot thing – and they don’t come any hotter than Romanian protege Edward Maya who is busy scaling the heights of the US Billboard Hot 100 with his phenomenal global hit “Stereo Love” featuring Vika Jugulina. Entering at number 93, Edward became the first Romanian artist to enter the hallowed charts based on radio play and digital sales, and has also been nominated for Best Romanian Act at the MTV European Music Awards. He also topped the European Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. Tonight at VLive he will be performing “Stereo Love” before orchestrating a stint of  house-heavy spins. Local faves Danny Boy, Erik K, and Louie Loop make for a great, great night. $20, from 10pm, north Milwaukee Avenue.

At Beauty Bar there are four top acts to catch with the deliciously rap-mouthed pop-tinged tropical-house vibes of Maluca. Joining her are experimental Swedish hip-hop/rap guru Marcus Price, Kid Sister tour DJ Willy Joy, and southside crew Ghetto Division. $5, free with RSVP from chicagoRSVP@thebeautybar.com. Sunday, November 14th

It’s legend time at Smart Bar tonight when “the main man” Derrick Carter will be guesting with resident contemporary faves Kid Color and Michael Serafini, for a Dollar Disco night of electric disco house grooves. World famous since hitting the scene in the 90s, Derrick first began DJ-ing at the age of 9 as a “fierce bedroom jock” until he perfected the art and then took his vibe on the road to great acclaim and packed houses wherever he went. Expect nothing less tonight, as this local Chicagey lad still draws the crowds with his house roots, seamlessly fusing old-school disco, jazz, and soul. $2, from 10pm, north Clark Street.
