Astronaut DJs, Dancing Bears, Anti-Greed Strippers and A Whole Lot More: It All Gets Wonderfully Weird and Sweaty in Clubland Chi This Week…

Lots of lovely dance lolly to be savored this week, from anti-greed strippers to dancing MC bears, and all your favorite dance-floor grooves; there’s a venue listed below that is guaranteed to float your nightclub boat make no mistake…

Thursday, January 26th

Crimson Lounge, Hotel Sax Chicago, North Dearborn Street: For those who have heard of the dance-label DFA but maybe not caught the vibe live can now savor the experience of this new rocked-up disco and early house sound at the Crim with none other than DFA manager Justin Miller supported by local techno-house whiz Hernan Sanchez. From 9pm, free.

Three Aces, West Taylor Street: A glorious mix-tape bag of garage rock, mod, psychedelic, Motown soul, jazz, reggae and Britpop faves courtesy of Adam Black and Mr. Automatic. From 9pm, free.

Friday, January 27th

Bottom Lounge, West Lake Street: Future bass, dubstep wobble, and feel-good  hip-hop with Paper Diamond (aka Alex B, from Colorado). M Machine (from San Fran) and locals Team Bayside High keep the electro pumping nicely. From 10pm, $20 or $15 ahead of time from clubtix.com.

Angels & Kings, Hard Rock Hotel, North Michigan Avenue: Hip-hop and rap from two of Chicago’s new brood, MC and DJ Hollywood Holt and DJ Million $ Mano.  From 9pm, free.

Underground Lounge, West Newport Avenue: It’s ‘Ties & Tassels Presents Mr. Hawk’s Occu-pie: Come Get A Piece’. This one’s for everyone who is down with the Occupy Wall Street anti-greed campaign and features magic, prose and (best of all?) striptease from a bevvy of burlesque belles including Ammunition, the Dolls of Doom, Lady Jack, Holly Deck, Ticky Ol’ Puss and friends. It’s from 10pm, and requires a $7 donation to join in the fun…while making a point.

Saturday, January 28th

Taxim, North Milwaukee Avenue: At the Taxim from now on every last Saturday of the month it’s salsa, samba, batucada, latin jazz, baile funk and the like with ‘Dance Syndrome’ from Christian Vera and Caswell James of the Soulphonetics DJ outfit. With special guest Starfoxxx. From 9.30pm, free.

Enclave, West Chicago Avenue: House and electro given a good pulverising with contemporary and classic pop from Brad Roulier and Shawn Sabo (performing as Manufactured Superstars, but who are also founders of Beatport.com, the digital download site). DJs Jordan V and Mike Legacy are also manning the booth and the night looks set to have its wackier moments with costumed fun from an MC grizzly bear, and the two headliners favouring astronaut garb. From 10pm, $20, or free before midnight with RSVP from enclavechicago.com.

Berlin, West Belmont Avenue: New-wave electro from Reuben Wu (keyboardist with UK foursome Ladytron). Berlin mainstays Chester and Greg Haus see the night out. From 10pm, $7.
