It starts here, this weekend…
Friday June 4th
Berlin Nightclub on Belmont Avenue would seem to be the place to be to kick-start your first weekend in June, when Cosmix Fridays celebrate their longest-running event with a special 15th Anniversary party. Resident DJ Greg Haus and guests will be flooding the floor with the latest electronica and indie-alternative dance sounds until the very early hours of Saturday morning. Doors open at 11pm, and if you arrive before midnight you might be lucky enough to come away with a souvenir t shirt, or special DJ mix giveaway.
Check out www.berlinchicago.com for more info.
But if you’re up for something more underground on Friday night, then it might be worth you booking your space at the Tetrode vs Downbeat Loft Party. This event is going to be at a secret location, and requires you to get a unique RSVP invite by emailing the promoters at tetrodemusic@gmail.com. All we can tell you is resident Tetrode DJs Specter and Damon Lamar, will be joined by Spanish friends DJs F-On, Urtzi and Jose Rico of Downbeat Records. Oh yes, and we do know it will be somewhere in Pilsen.
Saturday June 5th
It’s time to get your bathing suits out for this one. Beauty Bar are launching a new first Saturday of the month beach extravaganza with “Bikini Bloodbath”. Turn up in your bikini (or Speedos we imagine for the guys) and you will gain access for just $1, rather than the $5 dollar normal entry fee. It looks like a real beach scene will be enacted, with promoters Midnight Conspiracy and Dark Wave Disco presenting this epic Die Tonight thrill-party, pulling out all the stops with props, photo booth, and free make-up. Headliners are The Hood Internet and Jason Tyler, with resident DJs Dark Wave Disco, Midnight Conspiracy, and Heaven Malone making a heady splash with their sun-splatter sounds between 9pm and 3am. You must be 21 and over. And oh yes, there will be bloooood! (Fake of course).

Sunday June 6th
If you couldn’t get out Friday or Saturday, or were saving yourself for a jaunt on Sunday anyway, then maybe a visit to Rodan on North Milwaukee Avenue might be worth a visit for a totally new experience. The Flying Monster’, this restaurant and live music venue certainly promises something original with its’ combo of audio and visual art, and DJs spinning afro-beat, bossa nova, electronica, indie, hip-hop, chill, soul and funk. ‘Living Sundays’ is Rodan’s regular weekend event. There are digital screens displays all over the place for continual visual feasts, as well as a mouth-watering selection of cuisine from their Asian bistro menu.
